Staffing Firm Request: Experienced Linux Systems Architect needed.I represent a very large media company in Los Angeles. This is a very well known and well established media company. The company is seeking an experienced Linux Systems Architect. In a nutshell, the company currently has 800 Linux servers and is expanding it to 2000 servers in the next year. They need an Architect to help them design and navigate them though their scalability issues. The company is expanding extremely fast and there is a ton of room for growth. This is literally one of the hottest companies in LA right now. Below is a job description. This role is in Los Angeles, so they would have to relocate the candidate. Main Responsibilities: • Designing and developing major and minor enhancements to the architecture within the existing framework • Continuously identifying opportunities for system improvement focusing on scalability and high performance • In-depth understanding of the business purpose, requirements, and desired outcomes from a global perspective in an ever changing competitive world • Assisting with the development of application coding standards tailored to maintain system integrity within the constraints and design of the existing operating environment • Maintain/Support/Monitor existing architecture Required: • Bachelors Degree or higher in Computer Science or related field • Successful experience creating architectural design for large scale systems • 6+ years experience in the design and development of large scale web site and mission critical real time systems • In depth knowledge of Unix/Linux OS • Excellent technical knowledge of Java/J2EE in a web application environment • 5+ years of experience on Unix scripting (bash, awk, etc…) • Advanced working knowledge of various Web server technologies and frameworks including Apache Tomcat and SOAP • Working experience with large NAS devices • Experience maintaining mission critical systems in a 24/7 environment • Knowledge of relational database such as SQL including design experience • Knowledge of TCP/IP and application layer protocols including HTTP • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills • Strong verbal and written communication skills |
