Currently seeking a junior-level System Engineer to work onsite in Mt. Weather, Virginia to write new and run existing SQL statements for an application for FEMA. The application, which is Oracle based, resides in a Linux environment. The successful candidate will be required to have a basic knowledge of Unix/Linux commands as well as basic Oracle commands. In addition, the candidate will need to have solid SQL experience working within a Java interface.

Main Responsibilities:
• Designing and developing major and minor enhancements to the architecture within the existing framework
• Continuously identifying opportunities for system improvement focusing on scalability and high performance
• In-depth understanding of the business purpose, requirements, and desired outcomes from a global perspective in an ever changing competitive world
• Assisting with the development of application coding standards tailored to maintain system integrity within the constraints and design of the existing operating environment

Required:
• Bachelors Degree or higher in Computer Science or related field
• Successful experience creating architectural design for large scale systems
• 6+ years experience in the design and development of large scale web site and mission critical real time systems
• In depth knowledge of Unix/Linux OS
• Excellent technical knowledge of Java/J2EE in a web application environment
• 5+ years of experience on Unix scripting (bash, awk, etc…)
• Advanced working knowledge of various Web server technologies and frameworks including Apache Tomcat and SOAP
